A consultant-led service offers advice to those with additional health problems that may make travel advice and the administration of vaccines more challenging. The Hospital for Tropical Diseases emergency walk-in clinic sees thousands of travellers per year, providing a ‘while you wait’ service of assessment, diagnosis and treatment. It is open to anyone who has travelled within the last six months and has a new medical problem such as fever, rash or diarrhoea. Because infections may be detected in people who do not have any symptoms after travelling from abroad, the hospital also offers infection screening for people without any symptoms who want to ensure they have a clean bill of health.
