Mr Zafar Maan

Mr Zafar Maan is a highly experienced Consultant Urological Surgeon based in Colchester, Essex. He diagnoses and treats a wide range of general urological conditions and has a specialist practice in kidney stone surgery. Mr Maan qualified as a doctor at St George’s Hospital Medical School in 1998 and became a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2008. After completing urological higher surgical training in Cambridge and Essex, he was appointed Consultant Urological Surgeon at Colchester General Hospital in 2010. Mr Maan’s higher surgical training provided experience of working across a number of NHS Trusts including Addenbrooke’s NHS Trust, Cambridge. He has completed a Fellowship in Stone Surgery and Endourology at the Stone Unit at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, one of the few institutions to be accredited for its training internationally by the American Urology Association and the European Association of Urology.

Minimally invasive treatments for benign prostatic enlargement and urinary symptoms including Holmium laser Enucleation on the Prostate (HoLEP) and Steam Ablation of the prostate (Rezum).  As a Kidney Stone Specialist I specialise in minimally invasive 'keyhole' treatments for kidney stones as well as investigations to treat the cause of kidney stone formation and preventative measures.  Additionally I run a comprehensive Men's Health Service which screens for common urological cancers such as prostate cancer and serious cardiovascular conditions.
