Dr Victoria Swale

Dr Victoria Swale BM MD FRCP ICDP Dr Victoria Swale is an experienced consultant Dermatologist, with a special interest in vulval conditions, moles and skin cancer. Her NHS base is the Royal Free Hospital, where she has been a Consultant Dermatologist since 2004, and a skin pathologist since 2006.  She consults privately at OneWelbeck Skin Health and Allergy where she offers 30 minute appointments. Dr Swale aims to offer kind, supportive and collaborative consultations, helping patients to understand and manage their skin conditions. Many of her new patients are personal recommendations, the family and friends of existing patients.  She qualified from the University of Southampton Medical School in 1992. After general medical training she trained in Dermatology in several London teaching hospitals. She has an MD (Doctor of Medicine higher degree) from the University of London for her research on genetic skin changes in family cancer syndromes. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals. Dr Swale is a core member of the skin cancer multidisciplinary team at the Royal Free Hospital, and she set up the weekly dermatology clinicopathological conference meeting. Dr Swale does a great deal of teaching in Dermatology and Pathology, locally and nationally. She travelled to Italy in 2022 to lecture in Dermatology to GP’s.  She is a recent past member of the Council for the British Society for the Study of Vulval Diseases (BSSVD), and hosted the annual BSSVD conference in 2019.  She was senior judge for the British Association of Dermatologists’ Annual Conference in 2017 and 2019 - 2020, and is involved in chairing sessions and judging abstracts. She is the current assistant Honorary Secretary of the British Association of Dermatologists.   Dr Swale has been a member of the Dermatology Speciality Question Writing Group for the Royal College of Physicians since 2006. In 2020 she joined the Dermatology Specialist Examination Board. Dr Swale is a recent past member of the Executive Committee for the British Association for Dermatopathology. Dr Swale sees adults and children with the full range of skin, hair and nail conditions including eczema/dermatitis, acne, rosacea, warts, hair loss, itch and rashes. Her particular interests are skin cancer, moles and lesions; she uses dermoscopy and mole mapping in diagnosis and monitoring. She also has an interest in vulval and genital skin conditions such as lichen sclerosus. Dr Swale is registered with all major insurance providers. Dr Swale lives in North London. She plays the flute, and enjoys travel, rock climbing and walking. She is currently studying Italian.
