Mr Venkata Kusuma

Mr. Kusuma graduated from the University of Health Sciences, India, in 2000 and completed his surgical and urological training in 2010. He further honed his urological skills at renowned institutions such as Christie Hospital in Manchester and Guys and St. Thomas Hospital in London. Subsequently, he pursued a uro-oncology fellowship in Colchester, Essex, and earned his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (Urology) in 2015. Additionally, Mr. Kusuma completed a fellowship in robotic surgery at a European Robotic Urology Section (ERUS) certified training centre in Guildford, Surrey, showcasing his commitment to advanced surgical techniques. In 2019, Mr. Kusuma assumed the role of Consultant Urologist at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough. He actively engages in academic pursuits, contributing to the training of both undergraduates and postgraduates, as well as collaborating with fellow health professionals. A member of prestigious urological associations including the British Association of Urology (BAUS), the European Association of Urology (EAU), and the Urological Society of India (USI), Mr. Kusuma demonstrates his dedication to staying at the forefront of his field. With a robust publication record of over 70 peer-reviewed articles in reputable journals and participation in national and international meetings, Mr. Kusuma's expertise is widely recognized. He played a significant role in revising the prognostic risk stratification of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer as part of the EAU NMIBC guidelines panel. Serving as a peer reviewer for international journals and sitting on the editorial board of Therapeutic Advances in Urology, Mr. Kusuma contributes to advancing the field through rigorous research and scholarly activities. Mr. Kusuma's leadership is exemplified by his instrumental role in procuring Da Vinci robots for James Cook University Hospital and overseeing the trans-perineal prostate biopsy service at the South Tees NHS Foundation Trust. Currently serving as a Consultant Urologist and Robotic surgeon at The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust, Guildford, Mr. Kusuma continues to deliver comprehensive urological and  pelvic cancer services, ensuring optimal outcomes for his patients. His unwavering dedication, combined with extensive experience, establishes him as a distinguished leader in the realm of urological surgery.
