Mr Thiruendran Gunendran

Mr Thiruendran Gunendran is a Consultant Urologist specialising in general urology, foreskin and scrotal pathology, urological cancer diagnosis and benign prostate disorders with over 18 years of experience. He is currently based in Manchester and sees patients at Wythenshawe Hospital and private patients at Spire Manchester Hospital. He completed his medical degree at the University of Bristol in 1999, followed by his specialist urological training in the North West. He became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2004 and a Fellow in Urology of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2007. He was appointed as a consultant urologist at the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust in 2009, having already worked at Trafford General Hospital and University Hospital South Manchester. In his current clinical practice, Mr Gunendran provides a wide range of general urology services including the following: Management of prostate enlargement (benign prostate hyperplasia) and raised PSA Lower urinary tract symptoms Blood in urine (haematuria) - visible and non visible Prostate swelling (prostatitis) Testicular pain Foreskin problems Scrotal swelling - Epididymal cysts / hydroceles / sperm granulomas / varicoceles Kidney stones Bladder lesions Mr Gunendran practices evidence-based urological care and strives to provide the best clinical outcomes for all his patients, both inpatients and outpatients. He provides clinical advise to the Parliamentary Health Ombudsman Service (PHSO). Alongside his work in practice, he has experience in clinical research. He has held professional memberships with the British Association of Urological Surgeons and attended courses run by European Association of Urology, Société Internationale d'Urologie and the British Association of Day Surgery.
