GMC reg: 3600238Consultant Vascular Surgeon, Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Honorary Reader University of Sussex Lead for Surgery Module Brighton & Sussex Medical School. I trained in Nottingham and Perth and played a pioneering role in the development of endovascular aortic aneurysm repair that has transformed the management of aortic aneurysms. According to the recently published surgeon specific outcome I have one of the best outcomes for aortic aneurysm surgery in the UK and provide tertiary care for aortic disease for the entire region. I have broad interest in the management of both arterial and venous disease and the application of minimally invasive techniques. I have played a key role in the development of a successful regional service for Vascular Surgery in Sussex. I received national clinical excellence awards in 2009 (Bronze) and 2014 (Silver) that is held by less than 2% of the Consultants in the NHS. I was awarded a Hunterian Professorship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1999 and a visiting Professorship to the MD Anderson Hospital Houston USA in 2006. I have edited some of the early books and nearly 100 publications on Vascular and Endovascular surgery. I was the Tutor in Vascular Surgery (2006-2009) at the Ravens Department of Education, Royal College of Surgeons of England. I remained the Director of Vascular & Endovascular Courses (2007-2016), Member Court of Examiners Royal College of Surgeons and Appointments advisory committee of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. I was a Member of the Training and Education Committee and the Council of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland (2006 – 2009), Vascular Advisor, South East Thames 2010 – 2011, and current member of the national selection board for General & Vascular surgery, Surgical Training Committee and the first SAC in Vascular Surgery (2012-2017) and liaison member for the South West and Peninsula. I am a current member of the Council and Trustee of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland and Member of the Education Committee. I am a Past chairman of the British Medical Association Brighton division and immediate past President of the Brighton & Sussex MedChi Society.
