Dr Simon Taggart

I have been a dual accredited Consultant Chest & General Physician since 2000. I held the post of Lead Lung Cancer Clinician for Salford and Chair of the Northwest Sector MDT for Lung Cancer from 2000-2018. I have participated in the care of acutely unwell patients when on-call for medicine at Salford and also cared for patients on the Medical High Dependency Unit. In March 2022 I retired from the NHS to concentrate on my private practice and medicolegal work.  As such I have wide experience in the field of general medicine and specialist respiratory medicine. At the core of my practice is a desire and willingness to communicate well and to put the patient and their wishes first. Many of my patients have multiple co-morbidities and as such I am well qualified to care for them. Previously, I carried out >1000 bronchoscopies and >50 medical thoracoscopires and 100's of pleural drainage procedures and I have a wide experience of intercostal chest drains. I have published an MD thesis on Asthma: Pollution and Allergens and is the author of more than 50 peer reviewed articles and research papers. I also write between 150-175 medical reports per year relating to industrial injury and clinical negligence. I became an Honorary Clinical Tutor to The University of Manchester in 2018..
