Mr Robert Hone

Robert Hone is a Consultant ENT Surgeon at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust and has over 10 years of surgical experience. He qualified from Guy’s Kings and St Thomas’ Hospital School of Medicine in 2008 and subsequently completed a Masters of Surgery in 2015 . He completed his paediatric ENT training at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and undertook a Fellowship in Advanced Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. He also holds a Batchelor of Science degree in Physiology.  Mr Hone is a well-respected and recognised surgeon throughout ENT Departments in the region. He has presented his academic work at multiple national and international meetings and has numerous peer review publications. He continues to take an active role in research and has also set up regional and local training programmes within the Kent, Surrey and Sussex School of Surgery. Mr Hone is currently ENT audit lead and is educational supervisor to a number of junior doctors mentoring them through their training. During his time in East Kent he has enrolled the department in an international clinical trial, help start the Kent head and neck robotics programme and secured over half a million pounds worth of investment in local ENT including an interventional local anaesthetic outpatient biopsy clinic. Robert Hone believes in the highest standard of care and places his patients at the centre of the consultation and decision-making process. He takes the time to listen and to explore his patients’ concerns and symptoms by taking a thorough medical history and examination during the consultation. His communication and surgical skills have been consistently highlighted as areas of excellence throughout his career during the annual appraisal process. They have found him to be very reassuring and informative during their consultations. n his spare time, Robert Hone loves spending family time with his wife and two daughters. He is a keen sports fan, having played (rugby) to a high standard at school and university. He enjoys looking after the rescue animals he has re-homed.
