GMC reg: 3121063Professor Richard Cohen became a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Central Middlesex and St Mark's Hospital in 1999. He moved to University College London Hospitals (UCLH) in 2005 where he has practised ever since. At UCLH for over 12 years he held senior leadership positions as Divisional Clinical Director for Theatres and Anaesthetics, GI Services and finally Trust Clinical Director for Patient Flow. He was made Chief of Surgery and Chair of the Institute of Digestive Diseases and Surgery at Cleveland Clinic London in 2019. In 2021, he was made Professor of Surgery at University College London. He is known for his clinical and research work in coloproctology and has ongoing research projects into Crohn's disease and bowel cancer at UCLH. Professor Cohen was born and raised in North London. He is married to wife Madeleine and has four children and three dogs.
