GMC reg: 4097035I am Professor of Surgery, University of Sheffield, and also hold honorary posts as Senior Clinical Research Fellow, University of Oxford and Honorary Clinical Professor, University College London. I am also a Consultant Urological Surgeon, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I sub-specialise in prostate and bladder cancer. I am an internationally recognised expert in these fields and have helped make Sheffield a leading centre for Urological cancer care, having authored over 260 medical papers (18,000 citations of my work, h-index 72, and >500,000 views of my work on Mendeley). I have raised over £26 Million in research funding (including from the NIHR, MRC, The Wellcome Trust, CRUK and The European Union). I am Editor in Chief of European Urology (highest ranked surgical journal) and have increased the journals impact factor from 10.2 to 20.1 in 5 years. As one of few academic surgeons, I have supervised 12 PhDs, 1 MD, 6 MSc students and appointed 6 NIHR ACFs to date.

Urology - Urology Oncology
I was appointed to the NICE Bladder cancer guidelines group, the Department Of Health Bladder and Kidney cancer experts group, Bladder Cancer NCRI CSG and helped design the NHS Blood in Pee campaign. I have received awards from my national (BAUS: Golden Telescope, 2014 and BARD Medal, 2004) and my international societies (EAU: Crystal Matula, 2010 and Best PhD Thesis, 2005). I am involved in clinical trials and research into these diseases. I also specialise in general urology, including raised PSA, urinary symptoms and bladder symptoms.
