GMC reg: 2950066Professor Warrens received his first degree in Immunology from the University of Glasgow and undertook his medical training at the University of Oxford where, in addition to his BM BCh, he subsequently received the degree of DM. He undertook further training leading to a PhD at the Hammersmith Hospital, then the Royal Post-Graduate Medical School, now incorporated into Imperial College London. His further training as a post-doctoral fellow was at the Massachusetts General Hospital, part of Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists, as well as a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Professor Warrens is a past-President of the British Transplantation Society and the Section of Transplantation of the Royal Society of Medicine and a Council member of the Section of the Section of Nephrology of the Royal Society of Medicine. He has been a Consultant in Renal Medicine since 1996, first at the Hammersmith Hospital and more recently at the Royal London Hospital, as well as at the private hospitals listed above. He was promoted to Professor of Renal and Transplantation Medicine at Imperial College in 2008, a title he retained when he transferred to Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry as Dean for Education in 2010.
