Professor P Sooriakumaran (PS)

Professor Prasanna Sooriakumaran (aka. PS), MA(Oxon), is a world-leading prostate cancer surgeon, the Lead for Urology at Cleveland Clinic London, and the first UK urologist to be appointed as Full Professor of Urology at Cleveland Clinic. PS is also the only urologist worldwide to be made Visiting Professor of Urology at the University of Oxford and the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences Jodhpur where he is also Visiting Professor of Robotic Surgery. PS is the only London urologist to be conferred the degree of Masters of Arts by resolution of the University of Oxford and is a Member of the Congregation of this world-leading University.  PS is one of the highest volume robotic prostate cancer surgeons in the UK, having trained at Ivy League's Cornell University in New York and the Nobel-awarding Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, before being appointed as an academic consultant at the University of Oxford. He moved his clinical practice to London in 2017 and has become a world leader in Retzius-sparing robotic prostatectomy, a technique that has revolutionized early continence recovery for his patients. PS is also a world leader in graded nerve-sparing and complex robotic prostatectomy, and operates on patients from all over the globe. In 2018, PS received the Vice-Chancellor’s Alumni Achievement Award for his “significant contributions to society and the field of prostate cancer care”, becoming the first urologist to win this prestigious award. PS has also been selected by his peers as one of the UK’s top 10 urologists and prostate cancer surgeons: "an outstanding robotic surgeon who drives clinical research in urology in this country"; PS was the youngest urologist to make this list in which surgeons were asked to name who they'd themselves have their nearest and dearest be treated by. He is one of a very few number of UK robotic prostate cancer surgeons to hold a PhD. He has won dozens of prestigious awards from societies in the UK, Europe, and the USA, and is one of the UK’s most sought after surgeons for prostate cancer lectures at national and international conferences.
