Mr Robert Henderson

Mr Henderson trained as an Ophthalmology Registrar at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He undertook fellowship training in paediatric Ophthalmology at the world renown Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto and in vitreo-retinal surgery at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital, Melbourne and Moorfields Eye Hospital. He was appointed in 2014 as a Consultant to both Moorfields Eye Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. His research background is in the molecular genetics of early onset retinal dystrophies and retinovascular disorders; he runs the inherited retinal dystrophy clinic at Great Ormond Street and setup a specialist dual sensory clinic together with colleagues in genetics and audiovestibular medicine, particularly to care for patients with hearing and vision difficulties. He runs the retinal gene therapy service at Great Ormond Street delivering the highly specialised commissioned vortetigene neparvovec RPE65 service. He runs clinical trials for ocular gene therapies including CLN2 related Battens Disease. At Moorfields Mr Henderson is the retinal surgeon for the highly specialised commissioned OOKP service and he sees mostly adult Vitreoretinal patients.
