GMC reg: 3256141Professor Richard Newsom graduated from the Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School at the University of London in 1987 he completed his speciality training in ophthalmology at St Thomas’ and Moorefield’s Hospitals, London and then worked on the world’s first commercial OCT scanner at the New England Eye Centre, Boston USA. Professor Newsom has over 35 year’s experience working as an ophthalmologist and has a special interests in refractive cataract surgery – the use of toric and extended depth of focus lenses (EDOF), AMD and diabetic eye disease. He has an interest in global medicine and has worked in several African and Middle Eastern countries, teaching and training ophthalmic surgeons. Professor Newsom has written over 70 peer reviewed papers and has been invited to speak at national and international meetings, he has been a board member of the UK national vitreoretinal society
