This information is provided by Mr Rabi Khazim.
My orthopaedic residency training was undertaken fully in the University of Toronto, Canada and completed in November 1994. I have a further two and a half years of comprehensive sub-speciality training in spinal surgery in the spinal units of the Toronto Western Hospital and Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre. Since November 1996, my elective NHS and private practice work has focused on spinal disorders. This included complex spinal surgical experience at a consultant level in the spinal units of Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, Leicester Royal Infirmary and Frimley Park Hospital. From April 2000 until August 2015, I worked continually as a consultant orthopaedic spinal surgeon at Southend Hospital, where I established a spinal service. Since then, I practice predominantly and independently at the Spire Wellesley Hospital, where I do outpatient consultations, day-stay and inpatient procedures for insured, self-funding and “Choose and Book” NHS patients.
My practice is solely for the comprehensive management of most spinal conditions. This includes the elective diagnosis and management of lower back, neck, arms and legs’ symptoms as a result of degenerative spinal conditions, as well as the urgent or emergency treatments for spinal fractures, infections and tumours.
The surgical treatments (if appropriately indicated) are undertaken at Spire Wellesley Private Hospital. These include, but are not limited to, lumbar or cervical discectomy, decompression, dynamic stabilisation, fusion (anterior, posterior, intervertebral), instrumentation, disc replacement, interspinous distraction for spinal stenosis and cement augmentation (vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty) for osteoporotic fractures or spinal metastasis.
I am a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the British Association of Spinal Surgeons.
