GMC reg: 2846062Mr Simcock MB ChB DO FRCS FRCP FRCOphth is the only Consultant Eye Surgeon in the Peninsula awarded Fellowship status of three Royal Colleges (Royal College of Surgeons of England, Royal College of Physicians and Royal College of Ophthalmologists). Mr Simcock was trained at 3 prestigious teaching hospitals, Moorfields Eye Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital in London, and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. He has subsequently trained surgeons from all over the world as well as being a previous Lead trainer at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Microsurgical course in London. He has published 3 books all with second editions and has 45 publications in peer reviewed scientific journals to date. He has pioneered treatments for eye conditions such as macular hole resulting in significant reduction in the time patients need to “posture face down” in the post-operative period. He has also revolutionised service delivery in the UK for patients requiring eye injections to treat wet macular degeneration and diabetes having established with the West of England Eye Unit in Exeter the first non-medical practitioner injection service. This was then followed by Moorfields and subsequently all eye units in the UK to help cope with the demand for this service. Mr Simcock was awarded a prestigious national clinical excellence award as a result of his contribution to training, research and service delivery to the NHS in 2009 and renewed in 2014. Mr Simcock's areas of expertise are small incision cataract surgery, vitreoretinal surgery and surgical and medical treatment of retinal conditions.
