GMC reg: 6078267Neill Patani is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at the London Breast Institute at The Princess Grace Hospital and the Macmillan Cancer Centre at University College London Hospital. He is an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London, Institute for Women's Health, Department of Women’s Cancer, and Visiting Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Oncogenes and Tumour Metabolism Laboratory at the Francis Crick Institute. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Member of the Association of Breast Surgeons, currently serving on the Academic and Research Committee. Neill completed his training at the Royal Marsden Hospital with a National Oncoplastic Fellowship in Breast Surgery. His Higher Surgical Training was undertaken in the London Deanery and North-West Thames region, leading to the award of his Certificate of Completion of Training in General Surgery with a specialty interest in Breast Surgery. Neill graduated from UCL Medical School with Honours and was awarded undergraduate numerous prizes and distinctions in Medicine and Surgery. Neill plays an active role in teaching and training, including Faculty Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and National Representative at the Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Training Interface Group. He was a Surgical Teaching Fellow for Imperial College & Anatomy Demonstrator at UCL Medical School. Neill is currently the breast lead for medical student education at UCL and clinical supervisor for surgical trainees at UCLH. He has published widely in laboratory, translational and clinical breast cancer research. Neill is involved in trials studying the optimal sequencing of cancer treatments and the de-escalation of surgery according to treatment response. He has undertaken a PhD at the Royal Marsden Hospital and Institute of Cancer Research and received 1st Class Honours for his BSc in Tumour Biology at UCL. He has been awarded grants from the Wolfson Foundation, Ludwig Institute, Cancer Research UK, Medical Research Council, Royal College of Surgeons, Francis Crick Institute and UCL Biomedical Research Centre. Quality improvement in breast care is key to optimal outcomes and as Honorary Clinical Fellow for the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme, Neill has a national role in evaluating and learning from litigation in breast surgery. He currently serves as Breast Clinical Advisor to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) and is the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) Lead for Breast Surgery at the London Breast Institute, Princess Grace Hospital.

Neill Patani is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at the London Breast Institute at The Princess Grace Hospital and the Macmillan Cancer Centre at University College London Hospital, with expertise in the management of breast cancer and all aspects of breast disease, including infection, benign conditions, and risk-reduction. He has a particular interest in extending the scope of breast conserving surgery with oncoplastic techniques, including therapeutic mammoplasty and in the de-escalation of breast and axillary surgery, including targeted axillary dissection, after neo-adjuvant therapy. Neill has experience with a range of breast reconstruction techniques, including nipple-sparing approaches and one-stage pre-pectoral implant reconstruction with acellular dermal matrix, in addition to lipo-modelling, nipple reconstruction and symmetrisation surgery.
