GMC reg: 5178867Mr Partha Das is a high volume laparoscopic colorectal surgeon with sole interest to reduce perioperative complications and to improve patient outcome. He treats patients with colon, rectal and anal cancer. He also performs complex cancer and benign bowel operations. He has pioneered a special surgical technique (laparoscopic component separation) for complex-major multi-recurrent abdominal wall hernia repair to reduce post-operative complications and recurrence rates, being the only surgeon in the south of England currently offering this technique. Mr Das offers laser surgery for fistula-in-ano and haemorrhoids. Apart from his own practise in general and colorectal surgery, he regularly performs joint surgery with gynaecologists for complex gynaecological condition such as advanced endometriosis and difficult hysterectomies. Mr Partha Das qualified from the University of Calcutta, India, in 1993. He completed higher surgical training in the South East Thames London rotation. He spent three years in a Research Fellowship at St Mark’s Hospital, London, internationally renowned centre for treatment of Intestinal and Colorectal Diseases. He was a postgraduate clinical tutor during this placement. He was appointed as a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital in 2015. Mr Das is the lead for Clinical Governance for Colorectal Surgery at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital since 2017 and have been the chair of the surgical clinical governance. This role provides an opportunity to excel in patient safety and ensuring good practice. Mr Das is a keen educator and regularly trains and teaches higher surgical trainees. He is a clinical teacher for medical students affiliated to the University College of London. He currently supervises six junior surgical trainees and one higher surgical trainee. After a busy day’s work, he enjoys spending time with his two young daughters and wife. He enjoys a wide range of DIY activities such as repair work for cars, small scale building projects, general household repairs etc. As a model railway enthusiast, he is currently building a layout with Indian Railways as a theme. When the weather is right, he enjoys cycling in the countryside.
