Mr Michael Van Den Bossche

GENERAL BIOGRAPHY Mr Michael Van den Bossche is a General Surgeon with a special interest in Laparoscopic GI and Bariatric Surgery. He completed a 2 year fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery with Dr Jacques Himpens before taking up his first Consultant post in Brussels in1997. He moved to Guernsey Channel Islands UK in 1999 and joined the Medical Specialist Group. He works as a Consultant General Surgeon at the Princes Elizabeth Hospital on the island. His practice in Guernsey covers both Upper GI and Colorectal surgery, including cancer surgery. Michael has done more than 1000 laparoscopic colorectal resections. Mr Van den Bossche is also a consultant surgeon at the SPIRE Hospital in Southampton where he is a founding member of the Department of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery. He pioneered the banded gastric bypass and banded sleeve gastrectomy in the UK. He was the first surgeon to introduce the Mini Gastric Bypass in the UK back in 2010. Michael has preformed more than 2000 bariatric procedures including revisions for weight regain. He offers both GLP-1 agonist injections and the Allurion gastric balloon as a non-surgical treatment for patients who live with excess weight.
