GMC reg: 4136255Mr. D. Misra trained in Paediatric Surgery at Nottingham and the prestigious Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street. His research thesis on “DNA ploidy in Wilms’ tumour” remains the largest study published on the subject till date. In l995, at the age of 33, he was appointed to the Royal London Hospital as a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon and Urologist, the youngest ever in his speciality. He has the unique distinction of having described a new surgical operation which is published in Eur J Paed-Surgery- Surface Umbilical Pyloromyotomy - over 800 cases have been performed to date. He offers surgery for children and young people in various hospitals in London & Greater London area including west Essex. He is on the national panel of the Royal College of Surgeons and appoints surgical consultants all over UK, a position of great responsibility and prestige. In all, he has worked in Paed-Surgery for over 28 years. He is board certified in UK and his name is on the Specialists Register for Paediatric Surgery. ACADEMIC- Mr Misra prides himself on keeping abreast of the latest advances in his field. He is active in clinical research and has published and presented well over 100 chapters, scientific publications, editorials and oral presentations in international journals or conferences.At his level of seniority, he now concentrates on giving state of the art lectures, conducts Live surgical workshops or chairs sessions around the world. SAILOR & scuba diver - Mr Devesh is a RYA qualified sailing Skipper and also an Advanced PADI scuba diver- he sails and/or dive 3 to 4 times a year. He recently enjoyed the night sail from Morocco to Spain. He has dived with sharks and has also done wreck diving, night diving and tunnel diving. He loves to windsurf and taught his children this sport when they were 9 years old. He plays golf twice a week and as the years advance, He is getting pretty addicted to it. Paediatric surgery - Paediatric Urology
The most common referrals to Mr Misra are: General - various lumps and bumps, hernias, hydrocoeles Plastics - accessory fingers and toes, haemangiomas and birthmarks Urology - bedwetting, urine infections, undescended testes, tight foreskins requiring circumcision, hypospadias, renal disorders Gastroenterology - appendicitis, tummy pain, vomiting and gastric reflux Paediatric Urology-- He started a new protocol for managing infants with antenatally diagnosed hydronephrosis which is now followed by all hospitals in east London and Essex. He has one of the world’s biggest single surgeon series in complex Scrotal hypospadias (J Paed Surg, 2019). He published a new classification of Mega-rectum in ARM where he had observed 4 distinct sub-types over the last 25 years. Also led strategies to lower the incidence of this complication, with the incidence of megarectum dropping from 26% before 2013, to 4% thereafter. (Paed Surg Internat, 2020). He published his own innovations in urethral fistula surgery over a 24 year period. No patient needed more than 2 surgeries for cure, a world first. (Paed Surg Internat 2022). He also published his own innovations in neonatal oesophageal surgery (OA TOF) where over a 22 year period he had no anastomotic leaks, another world first. (Ind J Ped Surg, Dec 2022).
