After qualifying from the University of Birmingham in 1994, Mr David Hartwright completed his Basic and Higher Surgical Training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London. He also gained experience whilst working in the Bristol Royal Infirmary and the Avon Orthopaedic Centre. David has subsequently undertaken three fellowships. One in Trauma under Professor Trentz at the University Hospital in Zurich, another in Lower Limb Arthroplasty / Sports Injuries under Professor Walsh at the Prince of Wales Hospital / University of NSW in Sydney and finally one with Mr Williams at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital / University of WA in Perth. David started work at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital (RHCH) in September 2007 where he performs both hip and knee Arthroplasty surgery (Primary and Revision). He also performs arthroscopic knee surgery and manages sports injuries. He is actively involved in Orthopaedic education (Chair of AOTrauma, Examiner for the FRCS Tr&Orth etc.) and continues to pursue his interest in medical research.
