I was trained at St Thomas' Hospital Medical School and qualified in 1980. My subsequent training involved exposure to General Surgery when I gained a Fellowship in 1985, followed by Registrar training at The Royal National Throat Nose & Ear Hospital and Senior Registrar Training at The Royal Free and The Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford. I was awarded a TWJ fellowship in Neuro-otology and spent time at University of Michigan Hospitals and The Kresge Hearing Research Institute. I was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon to Bromley Hospitals in 1995 (latterly South London Healthcare and Kings) with an interest in Otology. Throughout my appointment I pursued interests in Ear Disease (Otology) particularly with reconstructive surgery of the ear and have performed over 1000 middle ear and mastoid procedures. I promoted day case surgery and achieved a substantial rise in the percentage of patients treated as day cases. I adopted the technique of coblation for tonsillectomy for which I have been a mentor and trainer at a National level and tutor on an international course. I have been a regular teacher in temporal bone surgery in London. I retired from the NHS in January 1995 and I remain in full time private practice based at Chelsfield Park Hospital. I have published on a variety of subjects mainly relating to ear disease and rhinosinusitis. I am married with 3 adult children, 2 grandchildren and have interests in golf and gardening.
