Mr Daniel Morris

Mr. Daniel Morris BSc(Hons) MBChB MFSEM(UK) FRGS FFRRHH FRSCEd(Ophth) FRCOphth Dan is an ophthalmologist at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, UK mainly treating cataracts but with a subspecialty interest in oculoplastic, lacrimal and orbital surgery. He has a busy orbital tertiary referral practice and is actively involved with a large multi-disciplinary team as well as managing a thriving private practice. He trained in St Andrews, Manchester, Glasgow and Newcastle with an orbital fellowship in Vancouver. His current research interests include sustainability, thyroid eye disease, high altitude physiology, ocular trauma and sporting injuries. His recent publications include a chapter in the Oxford Handbook of Wilderness Medicine and a chapter on orbital decompression in the latest edition of “Graves’ Orbitopathy”. He is also on the executive committee of European Group on Graves’ Orbitopathy, the British Ophthalmic Surveillance Unit, The Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine Council and the Oxford Ophthalmological Congress Council. Dan is passionate about world blindness, setting up a trachoma project in Kenya and recently starting a community link between the Vale of Glamorgan and the people of Tororo in Uganda. In his spare time Dan enjoys exploring the Welsh wilderness with his three young daughters and is the match ophthalmologist for the Welsh Rugby Union.
