Mr. Chrys Dimitriou is a Consultant Ophthalmologist, with nearly a decade of experience in the treatment and diagnosis of general eye conditions, cataracts, and glaucoma. He sees private patients at The Oaks Hospital (Ramsay Health) and Colchester Primary Care Centre (Colchester Hospital, part of ESNEFT). Mr. Dimitriou earned his primary medical qualification and went on to complete his general ophthalmology training at the Royal United Hospital, Bath, in addition to the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford, and The Prince Charles Eyes Unit, Windsor. Keen to continue his professional development, he went on to undertake his sub-specialty training in the treatment of glaucoma and cataract, at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals, and also gained knowledge and expertise in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. He then went on to be the first surgeon to use micro-stents in the treatment of glaucoma and cataracts, including iStent, Baerveldt, CyPass, and XEN45. Since qualifying as an Ophthalmologist, Mr. Dimitriou has become a specialist in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery and laser glaucoma surgery and has performed thousands of surgical procedures of this nature. For his continual development and excellent standard of practice, he was awarded the Level 2 Clinical Excellence award by the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT).
