I am a consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon in full-time clinical practice at University Hospitals Plymouth (Derriford Hospital), the Peninsula Major Trauma Centre, the Plymouth Nuffield Hospital and Practice Plus Group Hospital Plymouth.
I have a large orthopaedic practice with a significant trauma, reconstructive and sports injury workload.
Derriford Hospital is a University Teaching Hospital and a designated regional Major Trauma Centre.
My practice encompasses a significant number of complex and revision cases referred from colleagues in Plymouth and from around the south west. For 9 years (2005 to 2013) I was the only permanent NHS shoulder and elbow trauma and sports injuries specialist at Plymouth, now the Major Trauma Centre for the South West Peninsula (serving a population of about 1.7 million).
Within my specialist field I subspecialise in:
Orthopaedic surgery (arthroscopic shoulder, knee and elbow surgery, joint replacement, sports injuries, upper limb surgery)
Trauma surgery (bone, joint, tendon and ligament injuries, including complex post-traumatic reconstruction)
Sports Injuries (surgical and non-surgical treatment)
Medical education (orthopaedic surgery, arthroscopic surgery, sport and exercise medicine)
Medicolegal reports (personal injury and clinical negligence claims)
