I studied medicine at Southampton University, qualifying in 1994. I was appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth in 2004 and have also been undertaking private practice at Spire Portsmouth Hospital since that time. I now also treat private patients at Prema, Compass Road, Portsmouth. I regularly perform cataract surgery at both hospitals, and have a sub-specialty interest in Medical Retinal conditions. I run a successful service caring for patients with age related macular degeneration which has previously been nominated for excellence awards from the Macular Disease Society. During my consultancy I have taken on the roles of College Tutor, overseeing the training of junior doctors, and Clinical Director of the Eye Unit. I have participated in a number of multi-centre clinical trials, particularly within the area of macular degeneration and retinal vein occlusion.
