Melanie Tipples is a Consultant obstetrician & Gynaecologist who trained at Charing Cross & Westminster Hospital. She did her specialist Obsetrics & Gynaecology training in North West Thames, working at St Mary Hospital Paddington, Queen Charlotte's hospital Hammersmith. She completed her surgical training prior to this and gained her FRCSed following a surgical rotation at St Thomas Hospital in London. Having gained her CCT in Obstetrics & Gynaecology she went on to spend 12 months working with Professor Tom Bourne at St George's Hospital consolidating her ultrasound skills in the Early Pregnancy assessment clinic and Acute Gynaecology clinic. Melanie now works as the Gynaecology Cancer Unit laed at St Richards hospital. She supports the diagnostic pathway for Cervcial screening with regular colposcopy clinics. She is a dedicated minimal access surgeon and provides the majority of the major gynaecology surgery for western sussex health care supporting the care pathways for patients with common gynaecoligcal conditions like menstrual disorder and pelvic pain as well as pre malignant and malignant conditions. Melanie has set up the day case Laparoscopic Hysterectomy programme at St Richard's Hospital and this is a nationally recognised programme. Melanie's work is supported at a multidisciplinary level with regular meetings with Radiologists, Anaethetists, nurse specialists and Consultant Gyanecology colleagues to ensure that all patients have evidenced based care and are optimised for any planned surgery. Post operative recovery pathways are enhanced with pre operative plans put in place and physiotherapists seeing patients pre discharge and post operatively either in groups or one to one as needed. Melanie is happy to see and assess any gynaecological condition affecting both Adults and Children. She has connections with centres in Portsmouth, Southmapton and the Royal Marsden to whom she will transfer those patients who would best be managed in a centre.
