Dr Michelle Gallagher trained at St Bartholomew's hospital London with higher speciality training in North East London rotating through specialist centres at The Royal London Hospital, UCL/Middlesex St Marks Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital Liver Transplant Unit. Dr Gallagher was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatolgist at The Royal Surrey Hospital Guildford in 2006. Dr Gallagher's areas of clinical expertise include advanced therapeutic endoscopy hepatology and general gastroenterology. She is an accredited screening colonoscopist for the National Bowel screening programme, and a core member of the regional Hepatobiliary Cancer Unit providing ERCP services for regional HPB unit located at the Royal Surrey. Dr Gallagher has been the clinical lead for the Surrey Hepatitis C specialist delivery network since 2015, and is also the clinical lead for the Surrey Community Liver health checks programme one of ten first wave networks commissioned by NHS England. Dr Gallagher maintains a general gastroenterology practice including management of inflammatory bowel disease alongside specialist hepatology and endoscopy at the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
