I am privileged to have worked as a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon at University Hospitals Leicester for the past 15 years. Throughout my tenure, I have been honoured to collaborate closely with the University of Leicester, which has allowed me to pursue my passion for medical education, research, and innovation. This partnership has enabled me to contribute to medical school teaching, supervise PhD students, and lead pioneering projects in foot and ankle surgery. One of my proudest achievements is my book, "Musculoskeletal Injections and Alternative Options," which was awarded the British Medical Association’s Best Book Award (Primary Care) in 2021. Currently, I am completing my fourth book, "Surgical Techniques in the Foot and Ankle," set to be published by Springer this year. This work brings together contributions from 45 renowned foot and ankle surgeons across the UK and Europe, reflecting the collaborative and global nature of my professional endeavours. In January 2024, I established the British European Foot and Ankle Academy, an online education platform designed to disseminate foot and ankle knowledge worldwide. Within its first year, the academy has trained 100 surgeons from 30 countries, underscoring my commitment to advancing global education in my specialty. In addition to my research and academic contributions, I am a member of the Scientific and Education Committees of national and international associations. Last year, I was appointed as a council member of the European Foot and Ankle Society, where I contribute to shaping policy decisions in the field. I also serve as a secondary supervisor for a PhD student researching Achilles tendon ruptures, whose work has been accepted for presentation at the BOFAS National Conference and is nearing submission for peer-reviewed publication. Teaching and mentoring are central to my professional identity. I lead a joint injection course, offering medical students and allied health professionals of University of Leicester the opportunity to enhance their skills at no cost. Furthermore, I plan to use the university’s gait lab to test prototypes of a running shoe I have designed, aimed at alleviating heel pain. This project reflects my commitment to innovation and improving patient outcomes.
