Mr Kiran Singisetti

I completed basic and higher surgical training in the North East of England. This was followed by the Cavendish Lower Limb arthroplasty fellowship at Sheffield and AO Trauma Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA.  I have been working as an Orthopaedic Consultant at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust since August 2016. I have been awarded the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) travelling fellowship (Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto), British Association of Surgeons of Knee (BASK) fellowship (New Delhi) and the Charnley Latta Travelling Scholarship (ENDO-Klinik, Hamburg). I have been the orthopaedic lead for hip fracture care at Gateshead since 2017.  I am involved in implementation of several quality improvement projects making the unit record high quality hip fracture care. The teamwork and leadership has made the Gateshead hip fracture team being the best in the North East and consistently in the top five units in the country for meeting best practice in hip fracture care. I was elected as a Staff Governor for the Gateshead NHS Foundation Trust in 2023. I have an interest in medical education and teach on a number of regional, national, and international courses. I am a faculty member at Royal College of Surgeons courses, an ATLS instructor and on the panel of examiners for FRCS (Tr & Orth) exam. I am also a Regional Surgical Ambassador for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, acting as a conduit of information to and from the college, including career advice and support for surgical trainees in the region. I have a wide research portfolio; given presentations at international gatherings such as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the British Orthopaedic Association. I have authored several articles, book chapters, and co-edited an orthopaedic text book. 

I am an orthopaedic consultant with subspecialty interest in hip and knee surgery. My clinical practice involves high volume primary and revision (redo) hip and knee replacement surgery. I also deal with sports knee problems including meniscal and ACL injuries.  In my NHS practice, I also have a keen interest in trauma management and improvements in hip fracture patient care. I perform various trauma related procedures including complex periarticular and periprosthetic fracture fixation of lower limb.
