GMC reg: 6102875Having completed a degree in Pharmacology at the University of Liverpool, Ms Dartnell studied medicine at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Medical School. Qualifying, with distinction, in 2004, she moved on to Basic Surgical Training in North East London. Her Higher Surgical Training was undertaken on the South East London rotation including paediatric orthopaedics at Great Ormond Street Children’s hospital, Evelina Children’s Hospital and Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells. During this training she also gained an MSc in Trauma & Orthopaedics writing a dissertation on Musculoskeletal Infection in children, which helped to inform National guidelines. She returned to Evelina Children’s Hospital in 2012 for a Fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedics and then on to National University Hospital in Singapore where she continued paediatric fellowship training and was offered the role as a Senior Lecturer in Paediatric Orthopaedics. She also completed a fellowship in the hand and reconstruction department. She was appointed as a Consultant at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells in March 2015 and receives referrals from all over the South East of England. She has an honorary contract at East Sussex NHS Trust where she carries out monthly outreach clinics. Her specialist interests within paediatric orthopaedics are congenital and traumatic limb deformity, including limb lengthening, hip dysplasia and other hip problems in childhood and adolescence, sports injuries especially knee, foot, ankle and toe disorders, paediatric trauma, cerebral palsy, osteogenesis imperfecta and patella instability. She sits on multiple national and international groups for setting up guidelines in conditions such as patella instability and bone and joint infection in the paediatric patient. She is involved heavily with the teaching of medical students, doctors and allied health professionals.
