Dr Jafar Jafari

Jafar Jafari is an AGIP-Accredited Senior GI physiologist (Association of GI Physiologists) who is also a a medical doctor. He holds a PhD in Neurogastroenterology (Wingate Inst., Queen Mary, University of London) and MD (Primary Qualification) in General Medicine (Iran, Tehran). Currently, he is Head of Upper GI Physiology Service at the Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust whilst supervising/ three PhD students as an Horary Senior Lecturer (King’s College London), as well as tutoring next generation of GI Physiologists under the Accredited Scientific Practice Programme in Upper GI Physiology under National School of Healthcare Science. Also he provides unofficial trainings nationally and internationally via webinars, blogs and case presentations. He participates in supporting and development of GI physiology nationally in the UK by being the AGIP symposium secretary and a member of the BSG Committee. Jafar Jafari has an extensive experience in academic research and is actively involved in GI physiology research studies and peer reviewing articles as the member of editorial board in multiple medical journals. His research interests include oesophageal dysmotility, mechanisms of gastroesophageal reflux disease, supragastric belching and oesophageal biofeedback therapy. He is also vastly involved in industrial physiological research and development holding the position of lead clinical scientist for leading manufacturers of medical devices. To complement his range of skills, he is also the founder and director of the GI Cognition mobile GI physiology services, the first and only service of its kind in the UK.
