Mr Ihsan Mahmood

Mr. Ihsan Mahmood is a highly accomplished fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with over 15 years of experience, specializing in hip and knee replacements, complex joint revision surgery, and general orthopaedics. Renowned for his expertise in managing osteoarthritis of the hip and knee, he is adept in both surgical and non-surgical treatments, including advanced injection therapies and cutting-edge surgical techniques. Mr. Mahmood’s distinguished training spans the UK and New Zealand. He completed his higher specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in the North East of England, earning his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). His commitment to excellence led him to pursue prestigious fellowships, including: Complex Trauma Fellowship  at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow. Sports Knee Surgery Fellowship  at Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, where he mastered advanced techniques in Partial Knee Replacements. Complex Hip and Knee Replacement Fellowship  at Auckland City Hospital, New Zealand, where he gained expertise in revision surgery and the integration of robotics and navigation in joint replacements. Mr. Mahmood is a pioneer in minimally invasive surgical techniques, specializing in high-stability hip replacements and modern knee replacements performed without a tourniquet. These innovative approaches promote faster recovery, reduced pain, and superior functional outcomes for his patients. Currently, Mr. Mahmood serves as a  full-time Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon  and  Service Lead for Lower Limb Arthroplasty  at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. In this role, he performs a high volume of hip and knee replacements while also managing trauma cases. His dedication to advancing orthopaedic care is evident through his active involvement in research, with numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international conferences. He serves as both an  Educational and Clinical Supervisor  for trainee surgeons from the Glasgow and Edinburgh regions, guiding the next generation of orthopaedic professionals.
