GMC reg: 4032540After undergraduate medical studies at Cambridge University I completed my medical degree at Oxford University Medical School in 1993. My subsequent Specialty Training in Cardiology was undertaken in the North East of England, working predominantly in the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. I was able to undertake a period of research looking at Quality if Life indicators relating to pacemaker implantation and gained my Doctrate of Medicine in 2004. I was appointed as a substantive consultant at Torbay Hospital in 2004 and have worked there on a full time basis since. I see patients for out-patient consultations at Mount Stuart Hospital in Torquay. Other than an ECG all cardiac investigations and procedures are undertaken using the facilities at Torbay Hospital.
Cardiology - Interventional Cardiology
I see adult patients with a broad range of cardiac conditions including coronary artery disease, heart valve disease, arrhythmias and heart muscle disease. Typically patients are referred from General Practice with problems of chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations or light-headedness. I have a particular interest in coronary artery disease and coronary angioplasty, and am one of the five consultant Cardiologists at Torbay Hospital providing a 24/7 urgent and emergency angioplasty service, undertaking approximately 100 angioplasty cases annually. I also implant pacemakers and defibrillators.
