Mr Mark Gaston

Mr Mark Gaston provides private practice at Spire Edinburgh Hospitals and Ross Hall Hospital in Glasgow (Circle Healthcare). He has expertise in knee, foot and ankle surgery in young adults as well as children. In private practice, he regularly assesses and treats condition of the knee, foot and ankle in adults and children and performs surgery regularly for the breadth of these sub-specialities. This includes a high volume of minimally invasive surgery (arthroscopy), including ligament reconstruction (e.g. ACL) in children and young adults. He also has specialist expertise in the treatment of the orthopaedic manifestations of neuromuscular conditions (muscle and nerve diseases such as cerebral palsy). This includes gait improvement surgery (including complex osteotomy procedures) for the improvement of walking disorders and hip reconstruction surgery. Mr Mark Gaston was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon in NHS Lothian in 2011. Mr Gaston’s clinical practice incorporates all aspect of orthopaedics and trauma, both upper (arms) and lower limb (legs), for children and adolescents (paediatric orthopaedics). His NHS practice is based at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, Edinburgh (Sick Kids), where he is the most senior consultant and runs specialist multi-disciplinary clinics. There he provides a tertiary/national referral service for several complex orthopaedic conditions including paediatric knee and neuromuscular.
