Dr Sasalu Deepak

Dr. Sasalu M Deepak is based at Royal Lancaster Infirmary but also works at Furness General Hospital in Barrow-in-Furness and operates in the Cath lab at Kendal, Westmorland General Hospital and Outpatient Clinics and cardiac investigations at the BMI in Lancaster. He also works closely with Blackpool Teaching Hospital the local tertiary center for cardiac patients, through MDTs, ensuring that where possible local patients receive a continuation of the care under the same consultant. After graduating from Mysore in India, Dr. Deepak became a house officer in the Western Isles in Scotland. He completed his higher medical training (MRCP) in the North West, at Burnley and then proceeded to train in cardiology working at Blackpool, Bury, Crew, and Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester. He completed his specialist training (CCT) in the West Midlands Cardiology Training Programme with sub-specialty training in complex device implantation and management for Heart failure (Implantation of biventricular pacemakers, CRTP- Cardiac resynchronization therapy, and Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators-ICD to prevent arrhythmic death) and Electrophysiology-EP (Ablation for cardiac arrhythmias, management of palpitations and syncope) He has also worked with specialist Heart failure/ transplant teams in Manchester and Birmingham and over the last 8 years has strengthened and developed the local heart failure, complex device, and arrhythmia services. Has been principal investigator in various clinical trials over the years contributing to research and also sits on the northwest specialist training committee for Cardiology along with being the year 4 lead for medicine at the Lancaster Medical school. Outside of work his interests include traveling, yoga, meditation, and holistic health and wellbeing.

Advanced Heart Failure Management/ Complex pacemaker implants/Biventricular device-CRT-P and Cardiac Defibrilator implant –ICD. Cardiomyopathy. Hereditary Cardiac Conditions and Congenital Heart Disease/ Cardiac Disease in pregnancy Chest pain/Ischaemic Heart Disease/Coronary Artery Disease/Exercise Tolerance Testing Valvular Heart Disease/Pericardial Disease and Echocardiography Hypertension and Hyperlipidemia.
