GMC reg: 6040173Dr Richard Hull is a Consultant Kidney Specialist or Nephrologist at the Renal and Transplantation Unit, St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He studied medicine at the University of Cambridge. He completed his specialist training in Renal Medicine within the South Thames Renal Programme. During this time he completed his PhD as a Wellcome Trust Clinical PhD Fellow at the MRC Clinical Sciences Centre, Imperial College. He spent his first 5 years as Consultant Nephrologist at the Renal Unit, King's College Hospital where he looked after haemodialysis patients, managed renal ward inpatients and provided a weekly inpatient consult service for patients with acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease at the Trust’s Princess Royal University Hospital campus alongside outpatient clinics in both general and autoimmune kidney disease at both campuses. He was clinical lead for vascular access and ran the local registrar training programme. Dr Hull's outpatient work focuses on his specialist interest of autoimmune renal disease as well as general nephrology outpatients including chronic kidney disease, diabetic nephropathy and hypertension. His clinical research interests are focused on patients with autoimmune renal disease and he is an established investigator for clinical studies in IgA nephropathy, primary FSGS and lupus nephritis alongside renal anaemia. Dr Hull is Speciality Group Lead for Renal Disorders for the NIHR South Thames Clinical Research Network and Co-chair of the Vascular Access workstream for the South London Renal Clinical Alliance. Nationally he is an elected member of the Renal Association Council. Dr Hull is able to offer consultations on all aspects of adult nephrology including acute and chronic kidney disease, proteinuria, hypertension (high blood pressure), renovascular disease, diabetic kidney disease, polycystic kidney disease and glomerulonephritis including nephrotic syndrome (minimal change disease, FSGS, membranous nephropathy), lupus nephritis, ANCA vasculitis and IgA nephropathy. He is able to offer tailored advice for patients with early stages of kidney disease to prevent progression of their condition.
