Dr Rajith De Silva

Dr Rajith de Silva is a graduate of Edinburgh Medical School. He undertook general medical training in Edinburgh and Aberdeen, and his neurological training in Glasgow and Edinburgh. He undertook research in Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, in Edinburgh, and has an MD from that University. He moved South to Essex to become a Consultant at the regional neurosciences unit at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust in 1998. He has an interest in ataxia and neuro-genetics, and, as well as monthly speciality clinics in these areas, he publishes (case reports and clinical guidelines) regularly. His other areas of clinical interest are in the fields of headache management and neuro-obstetrics, and he holds regular clinics in both topics. He is a Medical Advisor for Ataxia UK (patient support group), and a Council Member of the Section on Medical Genetics of the Royal Society of Medicine. In his spare time, Rajith is a keen theatre/opera/concert attendee, and he also runs half marathons.
