Dr Philip Berry

Dr Philip Berry is a liver specialist with expertise in fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis, alcohol related liver disease, autoimmune disease, liver tumours, pancreatic tumours, and the treatment of gallstones. He performs advanced endoscopic procedures to remove stones from the bile duct and pancreatic duct where required, as well as bowel and stomach endoscopies. Philip has triple accreditation in hepatology, general gastroenterology and general medicine. Philip studied in Bristol and obtained a higher degree at Kings College Hospital liver unit, where he undertook research into cirrhosis. He also worked in Royal Free and UCLH liver units. Alongside clinical work, Philip has particular interests in patient safety, clinical governance and medical ethics. He has published over 50 articles and commentaries and has written on medical matters The Guardian newspaper and the British Medical Journal. He is departmental governance/patient safety lead at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital and a specialist assessor for the General Medical Council.
