Dr. Parth Paskaran is a Gastroenterologist and Interventional Endoscopist, specialising in advanced non-surgical techniques for the resection of gastrointestinal lesions using Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) and Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR). His expertise extends to a broad range of clinical interests, including Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Nutrition and Intestinal Failure, Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders such as IBS, and Liver Disease. He has made significant contributions to research in IBD and Nutrition, presenting and publishing his findings both nationally and internationally. Dr. Paskaran has served as the Head of Service for Endoscopy at Croydon University Hospital since 2014, successfully leading the unit through two cycles of 5-year re-accreditation by the Joint Advisory Group (JAG), the national body for endoscopic excellence. His approach to endoscopy emphasises patient comfort and safety, combining advanced techniques, effective communication, and state-of-the-art technology. He has been instrumental in enhancing the quality of colonoscopy procedures, ensuring they are as tolerable as possible while maintaining their diagnostic and therapeutic efficacy. In 2016, Dr. Paskaran collaborated with Pentax Medical to introduce the ScopePilot navigation system. This innovative tool provides real-time visualisation of the scope's position within the patient's body, facilitating navigation through challenging areas and improving both the comfort and success of procedures. Dr. Paskaran leads the Complex Polyp Team at Croydon University Hospital, a regional centre for referrals involving large polyps and early gastrointestinal cancers. He is an expert in all aspects of luminal endoscopic resection, particularly EMR, and is one of a select few practitioners in the UK proficient in Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD), an advanced organ-preserving technique. His expertise in these areas attracts referrals from across the region, and he regularly performs EMR and ESD procedures for private sector patients. A recognised authority in colonoscopy and polypectomy, Dr. Paskaran is also a sought-after trainer. He has shared his knowledge with consultant colleagues across the Southwest London region and beyond, focusing on the specialised techniques of EMR and ESD. In 2019, he became a founding member of the Pentax Forward Programme, a European initiative aimed at advancing ESD skills across the UK and Europe. Through this program, Dr. Paskaran has collaborated with experts in Europe and the Middle East, helping to establish ESD as the gold standard for treating colorectal polyps and early-stage cancers.
