GMC reg: 3196816Dr Robinson will be happy to discuss many of the important questions which are relevant when choosing your general and interventional cardiologist. Some of these might include: How long have you been an independent consultant and what is your experience in the management of adult heart disease? What is your area of sub-specialist training and expertise? How long have you been trained in adult coronary stent insertion? What are the outcomes for the patients you have treated with stent insertion? Dr Robinson has a wide practice covering the full range of adult cardiology. He has been trained to manage all adult cardiac patients but has also sub-specialty expertise in angina and heart attack treatment using stents. This training in stenting started in 1996 with accreditation and CCST certification in 1998 for general and interventional cardiology. He has practiced as a consultant interventional cardiologist at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, the London Chest Hospital and then, since 2007, at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre. His subspecialty training started in 1996 in interventional cardiology. This training includes diagnostic coronary angiograms, angioplasty, stent insertion, rotablation, coronary ultrasound and pressure wire use. All his procedures have been submitted for national data collection and analysis by the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society and his outcomes for stable and emergency patients compare favourably to this national data. Dr Robinson also has a wide general cardiology practice managing patients with high blood pressure, heart failure/breathlessness, palpitations, dizziness, and raised cholesterol. He recognises the value of preventive cardiology and has developed a comprehensive program for screening of heart disease and cardiovascular risk assessment. This screening can be tailored for patient’s needs and family history. Dr Robinson was a full scholar at Dulwich College and was the awarded an exhibition by St. John’s College to study medical sciences at Cambridge University. Following this he completed his clinical studies training at St Thomas' Hospital, London before graduating from Cambridge University in 1987. He was appointed cardiology registrar at King's College Hospital and then senior registrar and clinical lecturer at St Bartholomew's and the London Chest Hospitals. This role exposed Dr Robinson to a high volume of angiography, coronary angioplasty and stent insertion. In 1990 Dr Robinson became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) and subsequently a Fellow in 2007. Dr Robinson undertook a period of research when he was awarded a British Heart Foundation Research Fellowship in 1994. He rapidly completed postgraduate MD thesis from Cambridge University for his research into heart disease awarded in 1996. Dr Robinson has also been the author of many peer reviewed papers in basic science and clinical cardiology. He has undertaken wide ranging clinical research.
