Dr Natalie Boyle

Natalie Boyle is a Consultant Ophthalmologist, currently working in Kings Parks Hospital, Stirling and NHS Golden Jubilee, Clydebank. She has been a UK consultant since 2005. Having trained and specialised Paediatric Ophthalmology and Oculomotility as well as Cataract Surgery, she has been specialising entirely in cataract surgery for the past 3 years. This includes the use of Toric intraocular lenses where appropriate. The majority of surgery is performed under topical anaesthesia (no needles). General anaesthetic is available if desired at Kings Park Hospital. A local lass, she studied Medicine at Edinburgh University, going on to train in Ophthalmology in Newcastle Upon Tyne (Senior House Officer) and the West of Scotland (Specialist Registrar). Subspecialist training in Oculomotility and Paediatric Ophthalmology was at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.  Current consultant duties include high volume cataract surgery and the training of junior Ophthalmic surgeons at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital. Her outcomes and complication rates are well below national standards, with a posterior capsule rate of 0.35% compared to the national average of 1% and a good visual outcome in 97% compared to a national average of 92%.
