GMC reg: 3433418Trained at St Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, qualifying in 1991. Achieved MRCP in 1994. Post-graduate training in Gastroenterology in SW Thames region. Trained in hepatology (liver disease) principally at the Institute of Liver Studies, King's College Hospital, London. I developed a particular interest in severe alcohol related liver disease and the intensive care management of liver disease. This included a 3 year research period in which I carried out one of the largest published clinical trials in severe alcoholic hepatitis. In 2003, I was appointed as Consultant Gastroenterologist & Hepatologist at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. I have been elected to sit on committees at the Royal College of Physicians and British Society of Gastroenterology. I am a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP). I was clinical director of the department for 5 years (2008-2013) and clinical governance lead for the next 5 years (2013-2018). I am the Gastroenterology representative on the Medical Advisory Committee at Spire Norwich Hospital.
