Dr Geoffrey Clarke

Studied at March Grammar School where he was Head Boy 1955/6 and Selwyn College,Cambridge 1956-59.Primary medical qualifications. I962/3 MB B Chir(Camb) MRCS,LRCP(London) MRCP 1967 (Royal College of Physicians of London) FRCP(1990).MA Cantab. Clinical/ pre reg training at the London Hospital,Whitechapel (Now the Royal London Hospital) and also Poplar Hospital.Subsequent clinical medicine training at The Slade Hospital,Oxford and as medical registrar at Kettering General Hospital. Rheumatological training at St.Thomas Hospital,and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre,Oxford. From 1976 as Consultant Rheumatologist to Harold Wood Hospital,then to Havering District and later to Queens Hospital. During my medical career I have carried out research publishing papers on a range of topics plus several articles commissioned by medical journals. Also two books on Diagnosis and treatment of common joint problems intended for GP's and trainees at all levels. Early in my consultant career I founded a reg charity with a view to improving resources in rheumatology. This charity called Forth continues its work ,and is in regular contact with the NHS rheumatological team locally so that treatments/investigations not readily available in the NHS can be considered for funding. Also selected for lifetime achievement award by BHR Trust in 2007.

Inflammatory joint disease,osteoarthritis,soft tissue rheumatism including shoulder and tendon disorders,gout and osteoporosis and dietary aspects of these conditions.
