Dr Faiz Ali

Dr Faiz Ali is a Consultant Gastroenterologist & Clinical Lead for Endoscopy & Gastroenterology for Hywel Dda University Health Board. He is also the Lead Screening Colonoscopist for Bowel Screening Wales programme for the Health Board. He has been a full time Consultant since 2008. He is mainly based in Withybush Hospital but his NHS work also involves responsibility in all the 4 main acute hospitals in Hywel Dda. He also does additional Bowel Screening Colonoscopies for Health Boards in Swansea and Cardiff. His interest is in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. He is responsible for ensuring Quality and Safety within the Endoscopy departments in Hywel Dda and carrying out key performance audits on all the endoscopsits. He covers all aspects of Gastroenterological & Liver related problems such as: Abdominal Pain Anaemia with low Iron or haemoglobin levels Reflux disease Bloating / Vomiting Inflamatory Bowel Disease Coeliac and gluten related problems Diarrhoea or change in bowel habit Rectal bleeding Weight loss Swallowing or eating problems Abnormal liver function tests Liver problems e.g. hepatitis, cirrhosis, 'fatty liver' etc. Bowel Cancer Screening & Polyp Removal Preventative Medicine - Screening due to family history of cancer, colitis etc
