Dr Andy Li

Dr Andy Li, completed undergraduate medical training at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1993. After general medical training he underwent specialist training in Gastroenterology on the South East Thames Regional Rotation. This included postings in prestigious London teaching hospitals including Guys and St Thomas' Hospitals and Kings College Hospital. Several years were spent at St Thomas' Hospital where he was able to pursue research and publish scientific articles on aspects of intestinal iron absorption that even required him to learn the fundamentals of using an electron microscope as well as keep up with his clinical commitments including the supervision of clinical drug trials on patients with Crohns Disease. He still is involved in trials related to endoscopy and inflammatory bowel disease and continues to write articles which are published in peer reviewed journals. Dr Li was appointed to his current NHS consultant post at Worthing Hospital in 2004. He sits on the specialist training committee for Gastroenterology for Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery and is actively involved in the training of junior doctors, medical students and nurses. He is the clinical lead for inflammatory bowel disease services for the local hospital Trust and lead for endoscopy training for Worthing Hospital.Dr Li sees patients with gastrointestinal and liver disorders. He believes a multi-disciplinary approach is important for the majority of patients and this might include involvement of other professionals to whom he might refer. He is fully accredited trainer in diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures including Gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy.
