GMC reg: 4025216Caroline trained in Medicine at University College London with an intercalated BSc(Hons) in Anatomy & Developmental Biology. She completed her Orthopaedic and Trauma training on the Pott Rotation based at Barts and The London Hospitals with a further period of training at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital whilst completing an MD, doctoral thesis on patellofemoral instability. She also completed an MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering awarded by the University of Wales. Her fellowships included trauma at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, Australia and knee surgery at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals in London. Caroline has subspecialty interests in knee surgery, especially patellofemoral instability and in trauma. She is a Professor of orthopaedics at St George’s University London with research interests in patellofemoral instability and trauma. She is a clinical director for corporate outpatients at St George’s Hospital and she leads for research in orthopaedics in the trust. She is co-editor in chief of The Knee Journal. She supports equality and diversity initiatives within orthopaedics and was a trustee of the British Orthopaedic Association. As part of AOUK she chaired the undergraduate course teaching trauma skills and chairs research and career development. She lectures nationally and internationally on patellofemoral instability and trauma as well as publishing over 150 scientific papers.

Caroline has subspecialty interests in knee surgery, especially patellofemoral (kneecap) instability and knee pain. She is a Professor of orthopaedics at St George’s University of London with research interests in patellofemoral instability and trauma. She has developed a regional patellofemoral specialist referral service at St George's Hospital which exclusively sees patients with disorders of the patellofemoral joint. She provides a second opinion for national and international referrals and performs trochleoplasties as well as tibial tubercle osteotomies, medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction and patellofemoral replacement. Caroline has published extensively on patellofemoral instability and is a member of the British Patellofemoral Society as well as the British Association of Surgery of the Knee and co-editor of The Knee journal.
