GMC reg: 6029955Dr Ben Hope joined King’s College Hospital as a GI consultant in 2012, having trained in national referral centres in New Zealand and Ireland. His research interests include inflammatory bowel disease and coeliac disease. Most children with GI upset are ultimately given a “functional” diagnosis such as irritable bowel syndrome and Dr Hope aims to quickly identify what the problem is with a minimum of invasive procedures so that the child receives the most suitable intervention. In 2022 he increased the scope of his practice to include assessment and treatment of children with suspected neurodiversity, especially attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. He is part of the neurodisability team at Kaleidoscope children’s development centre in Lewisham. Since 2023 he has broaden the scope of his practice, returning to general and developmental paediatrics alongside his gastroenterology work. This has enabled him to provide diagnostic and therapeutic care to children with neurodiversity affecting their school lives, home lives or peer relationships.
