The Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN) has appointed Richard Wells as its new Director of Healthcare Informatics.
Richard’s role will include leading PHIN’s team of data experts as they collect data from private hospitals and clinics across the UK, to provide a more transparent view of the independent sector and help patients to make more informed decisions.
Welcoming Richard to the team, PHIN Chief Executive, Dr Ian Gargan said: “With his extensive healthcare data and analytics experience and expertise, Richard will make a huge contribution to PHIN’s success as we lead the way in healthcare data, and we’re delighted to have him as part of the team.
“The demand for treatment in the private sector is growing and we want to be able to help as many people as possible to understand the sector and their options. We collect a rich amount of data and it’s great to have Richard to lead the team. He will help ensure that we are maximising the usefulness of the information we publish on our website for patients and providers.”
Richard said: “I am passionate about data and using it to help improve transparency in healthcare, so that patients understand more about the care they receive. I’m excited by the opportunity this role at PHIN brings to make a significant contribution to helping the growing number of people who are interested in private healthcare make more informed choices. I want to make a difference to the quality of care available and help ensure value for patients.”
Richard has joined PHIN which is independent and not-for-profit, after three years as Director of Business Intelligence and Analytics at the London Ambulance Service. His previous roles encompass a variety of NHS organisations, with a particular focus on data and its applications.
