Active retiree Paul recently underwent total hip replacement surgery on both his hips, with six months between each operation. After years of discomfort and mobility issues, he knew it was time to take action and regain his quality of life. Here he shares his story.
"When it came to choosing a hospital and surgeon, I did my research and because Mr Lemon carried out a knee arthroscopy for me three years ago and it was such a good experience I asked him to look at my hips as well.
"I decided to go with Circle Mount Alvernia Hospital. It felt more like a top class hotel, providing the comfort and care I wanted and knowing that my surgeon had an excellent reputation helped me feel at ease.
"The primary reason I opted for private treatment was the NHS waiting times. I had been on the list for 18 months with no end in sight. That kind of delay at my age just wasn’t an option for me, so I made the decision to go private."
Excellent experience
"From the moment I arrived at the hospital, my experience was excellent in every respect. The care, professionalism, and attention to detail were outstanding, making me feel confident and comfortable throughout my journey.
"Without hesitation, I would recommend both the hospital and my surgeon to anyone considering treatment. The medical procedure, aftercare and physiotherapy were also far more straightforward than I expected and recovery time much shorter."
Finance option provided solution
"Cost was a big factor for me, as a retired individual funding my own treatment. I hadn’t heard of Chrysalis Finance before, but Circle Health Group presented it as an option. I was pleasantly surprised to discover their 0% financing option - it was something I hadn’t even considered but made a difference in my decision-making, as it spread the financial burden.
"The entire process with Chrysalis Finance was seamless. It was fast, easy, and straightforward - no unnecessary hoops to jump through, just a few simple questions and an instant decision. The online application was intuitive and far easier than others I’ve dealt with in the past."

After the operations
"Since my surgery, I am now pain-free, and life has gone back to normal. For the first time in three years, I’m walking without a limp and getting back to activities I had missed—yoga, cycling, swimming, golf, and long-distance walking. The moment I took my first pain-free walk post-surgery was an incredible feeling, and I was back to full mobility a lot quicker than expected.
"A huge thank you to my surgeon, the hospital team, and Chrysalis Finance for helping me get my life back on track. I’m extremely grateful!"
